Quality and environment development in the European shoe industry

Objective

Increased internationalisation has led to a situation where shoe industry production consists of many intermediaries co-ordinated by the main manufacturer, which has ultimate responsibility for quality and environmental guarantees. In turn, employees are expected to be flexible and responsible for the quality of their own work.

There is therefore a need for an EU-wide training module focusing on developing people's attitudes to quality and environmental matters. The project's objective is to develop such a course and to train teachers and researchers from five partner countries to deliver training to employees and new teachers in their region.

Impact
The training course developed will be owned by each participating vocational training institute. Delivery of the course to employees and trainers will contribute to employees' personal development and to their understanding of the need for lifelong learning in quality and environmental areas.
