Objective
In an increasingly competitive market characterised by technological advances and the emergence of new job profiles, workers with low level qualifications are particularly vulnerable. This project has been developed in cooperation with training institutions, educational establishments, accreditation authorities, trade unions and business to encourage initiatives for validating skills/competence developed during working life as a first step towards promoting new skills in response to changing market needs.
The project provides for partners to assess the current situation in the Member States and to jointly devise and test appropriate skills evaluation methodology and tools. These will be validated by the accreditation authorities in each of the partner countries.
Training establishments will be able to use the tools to assess competence levels and identify training needs. Individual skills, aptitudes and preferences will be taken into account, and worked into individual training proposals, and will lead to the construction of individual career development plans. Such personalised skills training paths will encourage positive attitudes towards continuing education and enhance employment prospects in a changing market.
Impact
The methodology and tools developed through the project are expected to promote vocational training in a life-long learning perspective, and to lead to raised levels of competence and transparency of qualifications.
