Objective
Training and competence development are often dealt with by non-professionals who have hardly any experience in organising and delivering training and learning. This is applicable for both small and medium-sized companies and lower and middle level managers. Companies need support for developing skills policies and integrating them into regular operational decision making processes. The specific objective of the project is, therefore, to develop a toolkit for in-company competence development at shop floor level.
The toolkit will be targeted at companies in the processing industries. It will enable supervisors and lower-level managers to forecast short and medium-term changes in skill requirements at shop floor level; to compare them to existing skill structures; to develop training and learning objectives; and to design skill and competence development processes.
The toolkit will comprise an analysis of good practices (case studies) and a critical examination of instruments developed in the participating countries. A prototype of the developed instrument will be evaluated and tested in companies in the participating countries. The toolkit will be made available in four languages (English, Dutch, Swedish and Greek).
Impact
This project will promote learning-in-work in task groups, and will support the coaching role of managers.
