Objective
Technological innovation, the internationalisation of markets, shorter product life-spans and increasing production costs require enterprises to introduce more precise control systems for their production processes and decision-making arrangements. Human resources development is an essential means of bringing this about. The aim of this pilot project is to identify emerging skill and training requirements in the mechanical engineering, furniture, and footwear sectors, and to develop up-to-date continuing vocational training courses, methods and materials.
The partners will design and develop three multimedia training courses, each lasting 40 hours, for technical operators in the three sectors. They will also develop three post graduate courses lasting 500 hours each, comprising common training modules and specific sections on each of the three sectors. The courses will alternate self-learning with traditional classroom-based learning and practical experience in enterprises and foreign technology transfer centres. Lastly, four study seminars will be organised in order to evaluate the proposed methodologies and contents and to test prototypes of the training material.
Impact
The project will increase the quality of continuing vocational training on offer in the mechanical engineering, furniture and footwear sectors and the facilitate access of technical operatives to it.
