Objective
With the ever growing number of technological developments and organisational changes, people can no longer practice a single career throughout their working life. This means they will have to constantly adjust to new situations. Vocational guidance is considered a lifelong process that takes into account the personal and professional plans of individuals, work realities, the evolution of careers and professions, the job market, economic realities and training offers. This inquiry aims to observe the various developments now affecting vocational guidance in Member States.
The inquiry will begin by examining the contribution of guidance practices to improving vocational insertion. It will then analyse how public services and staff management services can improve the quality and relevance of the guidance they offer. Finally, it will attempt to determine how these guidance services can mutually enrich one another and contribute to the evolution of lifelong vocational guidance.
Four phases have been planned. The first will involve drawing up a common chart describing the different types of intervention. The second phase will consist in creating a typology of interventions. The third phase will be to identify the methods of designing guidance products. And the fourth phase will be to define a typology for the final presentation report.
Impact
This inquiry will create a link between the identification of needs on the one hand, and the services currently offered on the other.
