Objective
This project is concerned with the need for improved competitiveness in the EU tourism industry. The partners will address this need by encouraging cooperation between users, producers and service providers of the European multimedia educational software industry. A key issue to be addressed is new information technology skills for personnel in hotels and cruise ships. The methods and content of work-based vocational training in this area need to be brought into line with changes in work organisation and technological development.
The project supports a key strategic business objective of integrating the human resources development function with new management information systems seen as critical for world class performance by a growing number of companies. It focuses on innovative methods of continuing training in companies, using new interactive multimedia supported by data communications networks, and video conferencing.
The partners will identify new technology competencies based on quality standards; develop software and training manuals for interactive multimedia training modules supported by data communications networks and video conferencing; develop and deliver pilot training which for training trainers; and organise large scale delivery to 324 employees.
Impact
By demonstrating new in-company training approaches, the project will stimulate growth and employment in the European tourism and multimedia software industries.
