Objective
This project is concerned with the development of continuing training strategies in community development in rural mountainous areas. Such strategies should take account of the needs of people who are self-employed, as well as those disadvantaged in the labour market such as the unemployed, women, and handicapped people. The aim is to promote an alternative entrepreneurial culture, emphasising the values of solidarity, cooperation, democratic management and the environment.
The project work programme will comprise the following activities : analysis of employment needs and self-employment opportunities; design of a continuing training model which can be used as the basis for the development of specific curricula; and an information and awareness-raising campaign about the need for an alternative entrepreneurial culture in rural mountainous areas.
The results of the project and the issues raised will be available in a guide, which will be published in a range of languages and distributed to education/training institutions and community development associations in the participating countries.
Impact
The project will ensure that continuing vocational training in rural areas is tailored to the specific needs of local communities. It will also contribute to the development of a business development attitude that takes account of the social and personal development needs of individuals and communities as a whole.
