XYLOPASS

Objective

The introduction of new technologies is forcing small forestry companies to establish new occupational profiles and related core skills. This pilot project aims to meet this need.

The goal of XYLOPASS is to further the actions taken by FORMAXYLOS, a project that created a system of reference for six key trade skills in this sector grinding, head saw operations, sawtooth operations, drying, saw classification, reception and classification of round wood and for the contents of related training programmes. There are two complementary axes in the project. The first axis will be the distribution of results and products. The second axis will be the transfer of the know-how acquired and of adapting it to each new partner. To make these transfers, positioning and validation charts will be designed to create a set of skill credentials called XYLOPASS.

This pilot project is divided into four activities supervised by a group of experts. The first will be to transfer the results of FORMAXYLOS. The second will be to create positioning and validation charts for skill credentials. The third activity will be to standardise these credentials within a sample set of enterprises and workers. The final activity will be to study, synthesise and write up the results of XYLOPASS. The results will be published in the specialised press.

Impact
XYLOPASS will put a new skill management tool at the disposal of workers, enterprises and trainers.
