Objective
The aims of this pilot project are set against the changes in work organisation and the development of new job profiles in the mechanical and electronic engineering sectors.
SMEs in these sectors are increasingly making use of automatic control and process systems. To implement and manage these systems, engineers need a mix of theoretical and practical skills.
The project will involve company engineers and teachers from vocational training institutes in the planning and design of a course in automatic industrial control and process systems, based on commonly accepted training standards. The course will include modules on the functional characteristics of machine/electrical tools, the organisation and management of industrial processes, and health and safety work. It will be produced as a CD-ROM and piloted on a limited scale. It will then be made available on a wider basis, to training and technical schools in the different countries involved.
Impact
The project will promote collaboration between vocational training schools and the engineering industry. The schools in particular will benefit from an increased understanding of industrial processes and the real application of new technologies.
