Objective
This survey and analysis project will undertake a comparative analysis of the role of university tutors in the different countries involved, with a view to developing a new profile for tutors that takes account of the European dimension and the need to provide high quality vocational guidance to students.
In each partner organisation, a team of academics with strong experience in the field will undertake a local field study on the role of tutors. A series of mutual visits will then be organised to exchange information on the results of the analysis and to develop innovative proposals on what role university tutors should have in future. Regional bodies, professional organisations and representatives of enterprises will be involved with this work, to stimulate interest in the development of the new job profile.
The results of the investigation will be published on a country-by-country and overall basis. They will also be posted on a web site, together with a relevant information for tutors on new tutorial techniques, European projects and practical work opportunities for students.
Impact
The project will improve the quality of vocational guidance offered by tutors, forge closer links between educational institutions and enterprises and develop the European dimension in higher education.
