Functional requirement identification development of methodology

Objective

The FRIENDLY project has been organized in order to identify the necessary functional requirements of technical subsystems for Communication, Navigation and Surveillance to achieve the overall system performance criteria. Given the technology progress, the continuous evolution in the ATM concepts domain, this project will be limited to the definition of a methodology to enable refinement and validation of CNS requirements.
It will start from identifying the functional concepts with respect to the use of CNS for future aircraft navigation and ATM within the different European operational regions. it will then move on to actually defining the functional requirements of CNS systems supporting the operational requirements of ATM according the operational European areas.
The methodology for the validation of the above functional requirements will then follow through simulation means, aiming at their refinement. Measurements of significant parameters (safety, efficiency, etc.) will be performed.
The methodology will be demonstrated on a selected sample of CNS functional requirements.
