Analysis and modelling of the migration of radionuclides deposited in catchment basins of fresh water systems

Objective

The main aim of the additional research proposal is the evaluation of the migration of radionuclides in the fresh-water system consisting of the channel Manivier, the river Dudvah, the river Vah and the reservoir Kralova.

Data of contamination in river Vah and reservoir Kralova will be collected to evaluate the accumulation of radionuclides in these aquatic systems. The acquired data, together with the time-series data of river Dudvah contamination collected in the past years, will offer the opportunity of carrying out a mapping of radionuclide distribution in the whole system.
The contamination data will be used to test and improve the performances of models developed for assessing the migration of radionuclides in rivers.
The mathematical models developed or improved during the programme will be useful tools to elaborate prognoses of the radionuclldes movement in aquatic systems.
