DEVELOPMENT OF AN ENERGY IN TRANSFERT MODEL AND APPLICATION OF ENERGY MODELS.

Objective

THE PROPOSED RESEARCH WILL ASSESS THE "STATE OF THE ART" IN THE MODELLING OF ENERGY CONSUMPTION IN THE TRANSPORT SECTOR. SPECIAL ATTENTION WILL BE PAID TO THE NEED FOR FLEXIBILITY IN THE USE OF SUCH MODELS, BOTH IN TERMS OF THE MODELLING TOOL ITSELF AND IN TERMS OF ACCESSIBILITY BY RESEARCHERS AND PLANNERS.
The modelling of energy demand in the transport sector was reviewed with particular reference to the model MEDEE-EUR. The first part of the review covered the general MEDEE approach and a more detailed analysis was then carried out on the transport sector of the model. The detailed representation of the mechanisms that generate energy demand in transport provides a ready made specification for an energy in transport database, or perhaps for a transport component of a more general energy database.
AREA A. ENERGY IN TRANSPORT MODEL.

1.FAMILIARISATION WITH THE TRANSPORT MODULE OF THE MEDEE MODEL AS WELL AS OTHER AVAILABLE MODELS FOR ENERGY IN TRANSPORT.
2.ASSESSMENT OF THE CURRENT NEEDS OF THE NATIONAL TEAMS IN THE USE OF MODELS OF ENERGY IN TRANSPORT.
3.EVALUATION OF EXISTING MODELS IN THE LIGHT OF CURRENT NEEDS.
4.FORMULATION OF DETAILED RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MODEL FOR ENERGY IN TRANSPORT.
5.PREPARATION PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION OF THE RESULTS.

AREA B. ENERGY SCENARIOS 2000.

1.PREPARATION OF UPDATED SCENARIO ASSUMPTIONS FOR ENERGY SCENARIOS 2000.
2.RUNNING MEDEE AND EFOM WITH THE SERVICES OF THE COMMISSION.
3.ANALYSIS AND PRESENTATION OF THE RESULTS.
4.COLLECTION OF THE DATA FOR THE MIDAS MODEL.
