Objective The MOTIFES project's major goal is to research and develop the enabling technologies for the future implementation of high-speed Plastic optical (POF) Fibre In-Flight Entertainment systems using the consumer electronic IEEE 1394 serial data bus communication technology. This will be achieved by developing avionic compatible fluorinated POF and novel 1394 compliant vertical cavity surface emitting laser transceivers.
