Objective
European citizens receive news mainly via newspapers and the broadcast media. Thus, it is essential that these media include coverage of European science and technology to ensure that it gets the recognition that it deserves. Alpha Galileo Europe provides an internet-based bridge from S & T practitioners to the media, and thus to the public, by enabling a new culture of communication in Europe. The proposal builds on a UK pilot project that established Alpha Galileo as a way to make the latest news on UK S & T accessible to journalists and broadcasters. This pilot became multinational, demonstrating the potential for a broader approach. It is this potential for European impact that Alpha Galileo Europe aims to realize. A strong consortium of respected organizations from seven EU Member States has been formed to take the project forward.
