Objective Founded in 1975, the Institute of Experimental Medicine is a member of the biomedical group of research institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, whose scientific orientation is towards basic research in biomedicine. The eight departments of the Institute currently focus on several main areas of research for which the Institute is recognised as the leading centre in the Czech Republic: Cell Biology and Ultra structure, Neuroscience, Molecular Epidemiology and Teratology.
