INTEGRATED FILTER/HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM FOR ENAMEL FRIT OVENS YIELDING 1,5 MWEL/HOUR FROM RECOVERY HEAT

Objective

The aim of the project is :
a) To realise a residual heat recovery and filtering system of the gas from each individual enamel frit oven, with an innovative system wich allows to recover the heat, with a high efficiency, to re-cycle the residues from the purification in a systematic way in each oven wich produces these residues, avoiding their generation.
b) To produce electricity with the recovered heat in the recovering system.
An exhaustive acquisition of data in the monitoring phase will let us to evaluate the results for its next diffusion and to let us modify in the future the installation in order to improve the functioning of this investment.
In basis to the success of the project reached, there will be possibilities of joint venture with firms interested in this technology.
We expect that for following installations in similar factories of the same sector is possible a cost reduction of approximately 30%.
The system of this project has been patented for Colorobbia Espana, SA.
The project consists of the design, construction, installation, commisioning and monitoring of an integrated filter and heat recovery system to be installed downstream a series of ovens for enamel frit production in Castellon, about 60 Km. north from Valencia.
The following aspects are largely innovative in the industrial sector of frit for ceramic:
. A very new exchanger, with no experiences about it, built with special materials and adapted to the characteristics of the gases wich high contents in corrosive and glass-like dust (sticky). Integration of filters and heat exchangers, with a special gas re-circulating system, wich allows to re-cycle the recovered dust in each oven. Utilization of room temperature air as a vector of heat transmission, in open circuit from the recovery-filtration units to the turbine wich will convert it into electric power. To enssure the purification all time, because the modularity allows, in case of failure or maintenance of one part of the unit (exchanger, filter, power generation), the rest of the system remains completely operative.
A comprehensive data acquisition system is part of the project. This monitoring phase will take a duration of one year minimum. The reason is to collect all the climatic variables apearing in an anual climatic cycle. It will allow a complete supervision of the system both in real time and a historical basis. Temperatures, pressures, flows, electric powers and other physical data regarding a number of key-points of the plant will be acquired and stored.
