NEW PROCESS FOR ENERGY SAVING OPTIMIZATION POLLUTION ABATEMENT OF SMALL NON-WOOD PULP MILLS

Objective

ENERGY SAVING : The organics from the dissolved material in the cooking process remain in the black liquor as dissolved solids. This residue is used to generate live steam. The saving involved is 46% of the total live steam required for the factory pulp.
CHEMICAL PRODUCTS :The caustic soda used as reactant in cooking is dissolved in the black liquor together with the organics. About 90% of it is recovered and reused.
POLLUTION ABATEMENT : The black liquor with a high content of dry solids is concentrated and burned with the corresponding heat recuperation of the organics, and the mineral compounds (salts) are treated in a recausticizing plant, in such way that the reactives are regenerated, and pollution is prevented.L%

1.INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY :
The EPYTEK SYSTEM is specially adapted to the small sized pulp mill. This simplified system controls pollution, generates steam by recovering heat from dissolved organics in the black liquor, and recovers dissolved chemical reactants for reused in pulping 2. OPERATING CONTEXT :
THe context in which the technology is operating is in non-wood factories pulp, working with special raw materials, such as flax, hemp, sisal, abaca, cotton, kenaf,...
Non-wood pulp and paper factories, however have a small yearly output. As well the fibres treatment as the black liquor treatment, from the pulping process, poses special problems that cannot always be solved with the conventional systems.

Observations : Complementary recycled water from other sources, such as the combined condensates from the evaporator (14.5 m/h) for pulp washing, will improve even further the applications of water resources and lower the fresh water consumption.

4.MONITORING PROCESS SYSTEM :
All the group of processes will be controlled by a DCS ( Distributed Control System) of a top modern technology.
