THERMAL MACHINE FOR THE FAST INERTIZING OF SEMIDRY PRESSED CERAMIC MATERIAL

Objective

Energy savings combined with an increase of the total production capacity of the complete ceramic plant achieved through the introduction of the inertizing machine which allows :
1. The speeding up of all previous production cycles;
2. The introduction of dry preparation of the powders to be pressed;
3. The employment of cheaper clayey and subsidiary ceramic raw materials for body compostions.
Expected annual energy saving, for a 4000 sq.m/day production 1016 TOE.L%
The inertizing machine was projected, in line with our contracting partner Azulejos "A" SA, for a daily production of 3000 sqm/16 hours calculated for basic tile size 330x330x8,5 mm. At the end of June 1994, as the inertizing machine was ready for the start up, some problems in obtaining properly trained manpower and the commercial request of a production increase of ab. 17% (after a month July of strenuous tests) obliged Poppi SpA to revise the project providing to upgrade the machine inserting an additional cooling section. This section has been delivered during November 1994; in about 20 days was installed and enabled the inertizer to increase its production from the already reached 3000 sqm/16 hours to the requested 3500 sqm/16 hours restarting from January 1995.
Anyway at the end of July beginning of August 1994 the inertizing machine was regulated and optimized reaching its optimum production level in 3250 sqm/16 hours (+ 8,3% in comparison with the initially agreed projected and envisaged 3000 sqm/16 hours) in the second half of August 1994 the factory's production was stopped for a three week summer holiday and the full production (3250 sqm/16 hours) for the present provisional situation has been reached thus enabling Azulejos "A" SA to state and declare that the projected machine has been operating and satisfying the initially projected figures for more than 15 working days.
On January 24th 1995 the inertizing machine was recommissioned with a final production statement of 3500 sqm/16 hours and a specific thermal energy consumption of 440 Kcal/kg.
Thermal machine for the preliminary, fast treatment of semidry pressed ceramic wall a/o floor tiles projected in line with advanced Poppi's ITP (Integral Thermal Process) energy transmission concepts for optimizing the mechanical water expulsion cycle, as well as the chemically combined water, oxidizables substances, carbonates and other ceramic raw materials stabilization cycles, in order to obtain a porous ceramic body in stable sizes, not to be attacked by water, with good mechanical properties suitable to be handed over to other production sections such as glazing, decorating and final firing; the machine unifies and optimizes the traditional separate drying and biscuit firing machine with sharply advantageous results.
