Objective
To identify the national input needed to enhance a national system of innovation by comparing four national settings (Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, England,U.S.A.). This will be validated by a sample from each national setting identifying;
1. Personality traits,
2. Skills and competencies,
3. Organisational factors and
4. Economic factors which affect innovation/enterprise development.
Thus identifying a method of developing national systems of innovation.
MAIN DOMAIN OF INNOVATION:
Methodologies for the planning and management of training in the framework of human resource development. Identifying the most useful skills for training in order to develop innovation.
TARGET GROUP(S):
People at work. People working in SMEs. Unqualified or less qualified. The project will assess the potential to increase innovation at all levels of employment.
OPERATING CONTEXT:
Economic regeneration. Competitiveness. If the above objectives are approached positively then they should lead to economic growth.
TECHNOLOGY:
Tapping of human resources, the project is an attempt to access innovative potential and thereby develop it.
INVOLVEMENT WITH ENTERPRISES:
Partnership between large enterprises and SMEs. Partnership with employers associations, trade unions, joint bodies. FAS, IDA-Industrial Development Authority, EOLAS-National Science and Technology Agency.
INVOLVEMENT OF SOCIAL PARTNERS:
Projects managed and coordinated jointly by social partners. Joint social partnership steering/advisory groups. Funding by social partners.
RESULTS:
Transferable models and concepts. Information materials. Training programmes/courses for advanced technologies.
