A study is to be carried out concerning the implementation of a centre in Europe where experience on renewable energies can be developed and renewable energies staff from different countries, especially those of the Third World, could be trained with all the technology and human resources required to have a good preparation in this field.
Tenerife and I.T.E.R. (Instituto Tecnológico y de Energías Renovables) are proposed to become this future Experimentation and Training Centre of Renewable Energies.
The review found the island of Tenerife to be a suitable location for the research centre. The site of the research organisation ITER was considered more appropriate than locating the centre at decentralised sites around the island. The concept of the education and training centre was developed in detail, including outlines of the course syllabi to be offered, duration, costs and benefits. This comprehensive review has provided a framework within which the centre could start operating, without the need for additional detailed assessments.
There is a need of a centre in Europe where experience and training on renewable energies can be developed. Renewable energies staff from different countries, specially those of the Third world, would be trained with all the technology and human resources required to have a good preparation in this field. Such a centre would be the Experimentation and Training Centre of Renewable Energies.
A study on the feasibility of Tenerife and more specifically I.T.E.R. (Instituto Tecnológico y de Energías Renovables) becoming the future Training Centre will be implemented.
Tenerife has excellent climatic conditions and the necessary elements to work on renewable energies as e.g. high windspeed, great number of insolation hours and good communications infrastructure. In addition, Tenerife has a strategic geographical situation between Africa, America and Europe which facilitates communications with the outside countries.
