Hybrid, integrated, modular electricity production system based on renewable energies

Objective




Research will be oriented to the design of the components and tools for further application design. Simulation will be used for both objectives. The set-up of two installations and the test results will enable validation of calculation and design procedures.

One of the most important concepts of the design will be the system configuration. It is based on a flexible DC link able to integrate any generating source with an easy rectifier/battery charge module, a battery storage system and an output inverter integrating system management control. This system configuration has been selected for its high level of flexibility in order to integrate energy sources and easy expansion capability. The system will be modular and integrated in the sense that the management system will be able to manage all the components ant thus optimize the system performance.

The most innovative aspects of the system are the management strategies based on the use of support systems, such as diesel driven generator at optimum efficiency together with storage management and the integration of power electronics.
