Integrated management of the bay of Brest and its catchment area

Objective

The project of integrated management aims to build, with all concerned partners, common strategies allowing an economic development respecting natural resources, and to develop tools of survey and decision. These tools will be brought together into a modern environmental observatory : the RADE Network.
In order to improve their efficiency and management, the tools will be tested through two specific actions aiming at the restoration and management of wet zones, along the rivers and in the coastal area: the creation of a public service of coastal workers and the coordination of rivers maintenance operations.
In addition, the ADAGE action (a decision-support tool in environmental planning and management), which is part of the plan, will help to organize and develop the computing tools of the RADE Network observatory.

The Bay of Brest program is an integrated management plan carried out since 1992 by the Urban Community of Brest. Its purpose is the sustainable development of the area.
This area covers the bay and its watershed basin (2800 km2, 137 Municipalities, 360 000 inhabitants). Many ecosystems are observed in this area, and some suffer from the economic activities and the demographic pressure. Some of these activities suffer in return from the environmental damages.
