Objective
DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING OF A GEOPHYSICAL ELECTROMAGNETIC EQUIPMENT WITH A 0.1 TO 1000 HERTZ BANDWIDTH FOR DEEP ORE PROSPECTING.
IN ORDER TO FOSTER THE USE OF ELECTROMAGNETIC METHODS IN GEOPHYSICAL PROSPECTING FOR DEEP CONDUCTIVE METALLIC OREBODIES AN APPROPRIATE EQUIPMENT IS NEEDED ALLOWING FOR SUFFICIENT DEPTH OF INVESTIGATION. THE MAIN AIM OF THIS PROPOSAL IS TO SET UP AN EXPERIMENTAL EQUIPMENT AND THEN TO DESIGN AND BUILD A PROTOTYPE FOR A MULTIFREQUENCY EQUIPMENT WITH A 0.1 TO 1000 HERTZ BANDWIDTH, A CONTROLLED SOURCE AND AN ABSOLUTE PHASE-LINK BETWEEN TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER. AT THE LOWER-MOST FREQUENCIES WHICH ARE NECESSARY FOR DEEP EXPLORATION, AN ABSOLUTE PHASE-LINK IS ESSENTIAL SINCE OTHERWISE THE IN-PHASE PRIMARY FIELD CONCEALS THE GEOPHYSICAL INFORMATION CARRRIED MAINLY THE QUADRATURE COMPONENT.
THE EXPERIMENTAL EQUIPMENT AND THE PROTOTYPE WILL BE USED FOR MEASUREMENTS IN THE FIELD OVER KNOWN DEPOSITS IN ORDER TO CHECK ITS RELIABILITY AND ALSO TO IMPROVE DATA ACQUISITION AND INTERPRETATION METHODS.
THE VARIOUS STEPS OF THE PROPOSAL ARE FIRST TO SET UP AN EXPERIMENTAL EQUIPMENT AND TO MAKE FIELD MEASUREMENTS WITH THIS EQUIPMENT; THEN TO DESIGN AND TEST DATA INTERPRETATIONS SCHEMES; TO DESIGN A PROTOTYPE AND TO BUILD IT WHILE MAKING FURTHER FIELD MEASUREMENTS ON TEST SITES WITH THE EXPERIMENTAL EQUIPMENT, TO DEVELOP A SOFTWARE FOR DATA PLOTTING AND INTERPRETATION; FINALLY TO CHECK THE PROTOTYPE PERFORMANCES.
RESEARCH WORK IS DONE IN CLOSE CO-OPERATION WITH THE CENTRE DE RECHERCHES GEOPHYSIQUES DU CNRS, GARCHY.
