Tool for Quantifying Toxic Organic Solutes in Discharge Waters from Petroleum Platforms Using Integrated Approach

Objective

The objective of the proposed project is the demonstration of an integrated tool, which is capable of quantitative estimates of discharge water organic pollutants through time over the lifetime of a field. The integrated tool is a result of the emplacement of the knowledge of petroleum system water chemistry into a numerical simulator of production water chemistry which tracks organic solute composition throughout the reservoir, then the production tubing and finally the separator processes. The tool will assist the petroleum industry in designing platform installations capable of dealing in a cost effective way with changing toxic solute loads during field lifetime and thus managing solute discharge into the sea or injection planning. In addition the tool will assist company operators in a better management of production wells particularly during tail production.
