Objective
The aim of the French/German project is to develop a submersible Turbo/Mixo Pump : a new integrated turbine driven for heavy oil, to fit high capacity offshore horizontal wells. The current systems being developed for vertical wells are not adapted to horizontal wells which are the most promising techniques for heavy oil production.
The heavy oil reserves which are at least as large as the light oil ones cannot be produced by traditional means.
Development of a Turbine Pump and Mixer fitted on the same shaft and in a common fixed structure including :
- a turbine section fed with water or liquid by a surface pump
- a mixing section to create a low viscous emulsion between the crude oil and the turbined water
- a pump section capable of handling the emulsion.
The technology involves two main functions
a) MIXING
The mixing function will be realized dynamically in continuous by creating an adequate emulsion inside a chamber, from the formation crude oil and the discharged Turbined water including an emulsifiant adapted to the physico-chemical characteristics of the in-situ formation crude.
b) TURBOPUMPING
Turbine and pump section (centrifuge hydraulic type)
The project development covers four phases :
PHASE 1 - DEFINITION
- Hydraulic design and fabircation file
- Mixer development
- Calculation program for TMP adaptation to the well data
- Demonstration test preparation.
PHASE 2 - DEMONSTRATION PROTOTYPE
- Manufacturing ofthe machine
- Ohter connected equipments purchasing
- Shop test and loop test for the complete unit
- Recording of parameters.
PHASE 3 - ON SITE TESTS
- Erection of the installation (surface and subsurface equipment, TMP)
- Tests and data recording
- Production gain evaluation
- Technical report, tests report, conclusions.
PHASE 4 - RESULTS AND SYNTHESIS
a) TECHNICAL RESULTS
One line with the technical report
- Specific components redefinition for a better adaptation to the project
- Parameters calculation method, computer program
- Modification of phase 1 software adaptation to any potential field
- Cost analysis of reach component
b) ECONOMIC RESULTS
Cost analysis production of the system based on volume capability, geographic and economic conditions.
