Objective
The olive mill wastewater (OMW) is a mixture of nutritious agents appropriate for fertilizing or animal feed (proteins, fat substances, etc.), as well aspolyphenols, tannins and other substances with phototropic action. The RTD goal of the intended project is the fundamental investigation, the process design and the reliability control of a system for treatment and complete utilization of OMW. Combination of physicochemical processes can be applied for the fractionation of the wastes into useful separate by-products as fertilizers, parasitic ides, etc. Moreover, the development of an environmentally friendly parasitic as a fraction from OMW will offer an ecological solution to the sector of agricultural chemicals. The approval and successful completion of this project will establish the basis for a complete and profitable solution of one of the most important Mediterranean environmental problems.
