Cel
Researchers in this project developed a computer-aided design and engineering (CAD/CAE) system for cold forging to improve efficiency and reduce lead time and costs, making cold forging more viable on a smaller scale. The modules developed can be adapted for different systems and used in the automotive industry; however some are not yet ready for industrial application so the system is not fully comprehensive.
THE AIM OF THE CURRENT PROJECT IS TO IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF PRODUCTION AND PLANNING OF COLD EXTRUDED PARTS BY MEANS OF AN INTEGRATED CAD/CAE-SYSTEM.THE DEVELOPMENT OF TECHNOLOGICAL MODULES AND THEIR INTEGRATION IN A SUITABLE CAD-SYSTEM IS TO BE MADE IN ORDER TO PROVIDE EITHER GEOMETRY PROCESSING AND DETAILED TECHNOLOGICAL SUPPORT.
CAE-MODULES ARE TO BE WORKED OUT TO PERMIT THE DESIGN OF FORMING SEQUENCE, OPTIMIZATION OF FORMING SEQUENCE THROUGH PROCESS SIMULATION, TOOL DESIGN AND STRENGTH CALCULATION.
FURTHER CAE-MODULES ARE RELATED TO TIMING AND AUTOMATIC SETTING UP OF COLD HEADING MACHINES, AND THE DETERMINATION OF PRODUCTION COSTS. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A TECHNOLOGICAL DATA BASE IS ALSO INTENDED FOR THE STORAGE OF DATA REQUIRED BY THE CAE-MODULES. THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN INTEGRATED SYSTEM WILL CONTRIBUTE TO AN IMPROVED QUALITY OF EXTRUDED PARTS AND LEAD TO A CONSIDERABLE REDUCTION IN LEAD TIME.
