CRITICAL REVIEWS AND MODEL DEVELOPMENT FOR COUNTER-CURVENT FLOW LIMITATIONS IN HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL PIPES.

Objective

THE PRESENT STUDY IS DEVOTED TO A CRITICAL REVIEW OF AVAILABLE EXPERIMENTAL DATA ON SEPARATE EFFECT TESTS AND POSSIBLY ON INTEGRAL TESTS IN ORDER TO ASSESS THEIR VALIDITY IN PHYSICAL MODELS. FOR AREAS IN WHICH ADDITIONAL DATA ARE CONSIDERED TO BE NECESSARY, THE STUDY SHOULD SPECIFY ALSO THE OVERALL EXPERIMENTAL REQUIREMENTS TO BE USED FOR THE PLANNING OF SUBSEQUENT TESTS.

TO IMPROVE THE ACCURACY OF SYSTEM CODES FOR THE PREDICTION OF CCFL IN HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL PIPES EXPERIMENTAL DATA WILL BE COLLECTED AND CRITICALLY ASSESSED. BECAUSE THERE ARE NO OR ONLY FEW DATA OF SEPARATE EFFECT TESTS, THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA OF LARGE SYSTEM LOOPS MUST BE CHECKED WITH RESPECT TO THEIR APPLICABILITY. SUCH SYSTEM LOOPS, AT WHICH PERHAPS AVAILABLE AND UTILIZABLE DATA WERE PRODUCED, ARE SEMISCALE, LOBI, FLECHT-SEASET, TPTT OF THE ROSA IV PROGRAMME ET AL. AN ADDITIONAL UPTF STARTS WITH THE FIRST TESTS AT THE END OF 1985.

IN THE NEXT STEP THE COLLECTED AND PROVED DATA WILL BE COMPARED WITH CALCULATIONS OF FLOODING MODELS, WHICH ARE KNOWN FROM THE LITERATURE. IF NECESSARY AN OWN MODEL WILL BE DEVELOPED UNDER CONSIDERATION OF DATA AT HIGH PRESSURES (20-80 BAR) AND AT LARGE GEOMETRIES (MINIMUM DIAMETER 50-100 MM). SELECTED MODELS WILL BE INTRODUCED INTO AN AVAILABLE SYSTEM CODE.
