PV ELECTRIFICATION OF THE SANTO STEFANO ISLAND

Objective

To demonstrate on small, yet real scale the possibility of the complete pv electrification of a small island. Care is taken of the preservation of the environment and the optimisation of the power generation and consumption.

The small (2 square kilometers) island of Santo Stefano, 45 km off the coast of Lazio south of Gaeta, is to be electrified with distributed pv systems, total 21 kWp, for lighting, refrigeration, water pumping sterilizing. The island, until now prison and without electricity, shall be opened for tourism.
