DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF A GUIDELINELESS INSERT WELLHEAD SYSTEM FOR THE EXPLOITATION OF HYDROCARBONS IN DEEP WATER

Objective

Design, manufacture and offshore installation of a deep water guidelineless insert wellhead completion system.
All required equipment has been detailed on paper to the extent that the feasibility of the system has been established and the design team has expressed sufficient confidence in all equipment to move into the follow-up phase, i.e. manufacturing and installation, without the requirement for additional major design work.
The development of a guidelineless insert wellhead completion system is the next step towards a full deep water production capability. This design offers the advantage of achieving a low exposed profile above the sea floor comparing to existing insert tries and maintains all the inherent safety aspects such as tubing hanger, mastervalve block installed below the mudline inside the 30 inch conductor.
The project was carried out in 3 phases:
- equipment design finalisation and manufacture
- land testing in operating area
- field installation and proving.
