Objective
Development of an integrated navigation system for prospection of hydrocarbon off the continental shelf with sophisticated filter technique to achieve required accuracy in deep water also.
The hydrocarbon exploration required absolute accuracy of 150 m cep: relative accuracy of 100 m cep and relative sequential accuracy of 15 m cep has been reached with the threefold integration off the continental shelf. Beside the navigational requirements the system realises a very simple, self-explanatory interactive man-machine communication by structured dialogue.
The system has now been installed on two seismic vessels, the "sv explora" and "sv prospekta", and on one oceanographic vessel, the "dpfvs polarstern".
The integrated navigation with a pdp 11-34 process control computer and microprocessors as intelligent interface units combines doppler sonar velocity inputs and gyro heading inputs, measurement from loran c system or other radio navigation systems and information from the transit satellite system optimally by a filter algorithm with the aim to minimize the user state estimation uncertainties
