Objective
Design, build and test a pipe cleaning device (pig) based on new dynamic concepts; this device will perform specially difficult internal pipe cleaning, its components being specifically designed according to requirements, and will incorporate a new and unique by-pass system, avoiding the traditionnal risk of choking.
General concept of the tool has been defined with the design criteria of the cleaning and propulsion sub-assemblies.
General Procedure of a cleaning operation based on the Turbo Pig concept has been drawn and tried.
Tests in full scale operations with various parameters of the procedures to optimise the design of the components have been performed.
Conclusion is that the Turbo Pig cleaning principle is successful although each cas will require an adequate configuration of the pigs components.
