CONSTRUCTION OF A "HSW 750" WIND POWER INSTALLATION WITH A RATED OUTPUT OF 750 KW

Objective

To design and manufacture a new 750 kW wind turbine based on the experience gained with the 200 and 250 kW machines. The wind turbine will be installed at the Husumer Schiffswerft premises.

The main wind turbine characteristics are 3-bladed, 46 m rotor diameter, upwind active yawing, pitch controlled. The 20 tons nacelle will be placed on the top of the 45 m tower, housing an 750 kW induction generator, the two stage gearbox, the braking and the control systems. Safety systems foreseen include :spring actuated pitch return, brake on high speed shaft of the generator and mechanical locking for maintenance purposes. Particular attention will be given to keep noise emissions low through moderate circumferential speed, specific shape of rotor blades, specially designed gearbox and noise isolation.
During the demonstration phase it will be possible to evaluate the operation of the wind turbine compared to its design and to obtain the required data for further development, optimization and cost effectiveness. The extensive measurements programme will be carried out by the Flensbung Technical College.
