Energies Douces - Préfaisabilité

Objective

Setting up and development of an infrastructure in order to establish pre-feasibility studies in the districts 'Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur', and also in different other European districts (North Ouest of Italy, Belgium-Wallonie, South West of Germany) in the field of renewable energy.
This infrastructure 'Energies Douces - Pre-feasibility' or EDP is the common tool for different partners to pick-out, identify and realize these pre-studies in order to carry out these projects, with or without outside financial help.
The expected results are :
- the development of these pre-feasibility studies
- these studies should help the adoption of these technics by building owners (public or private), in these districts
- end up with the viability, the autonomy of this structure network, the 3rd year.

A - ETUDES DE DISTRIBUTION ECONOMIQUE / DIRECTE DES PRODUITS SOLAIRES THERMIQUES

Analysis, in several european districts, of solar thermal products upon there economic market :
- specificities of the products
- supply and demand
- commercial trading
The study show that the cost of solar thermal products is higher than standard ones because the lack of confidence from the distributor involves and increase in prices.
Short commercial trading are not the best, because responsabilities of the different partners is not identified.
A new concept appear on the market, solar products integrate building specificities (thermal insulation, watertighness ...) so a new dimension must be given to futur commercial trading.

B - UTILISATION DE CAPTEURS SOLAIRES A AIR A ABSORBEUR PERFORE

Study of the solar air collector technology, cost and applications in several european countries.
The study shows :

1/ There is a lack of reference upon solar air collector in EUROPE
2/ Technology spreading (near architects, building owners ...) must be pedagogical.

C - VALORISATION DE LA CARRIERE DE TEYRAN PAR L'AQUACULTURE

Feasibility study to retrofit an old quarry near Montpellier (South of France) with the following points :

1/ Piscicultural
Technology : intensive in closed circuit
Production of fishes :
- catfish : 65 tons per year
- blackbass : 15 tons per year

2/ Medicinal seaweed (Spirulina)
Technology : * basin (350 m2) under greenhouse
* 2 outer basins type race way (5000 and 1000 m2)
Objective of the site production : 6.5 tons per year.

3/ Animation
Creation of a leisure place around the production area, to valorize economically the rest of the quarry (large basin for sporting fishing, public visit of the production center ...).

D - REHABILITATION DE LA CITE SAINT BARTHELEMY A MARSEILLE

This Marseille project is made in cooperation with other partners from the EC as a part of a network cooperation where the focus is aimed at energy efficient renovation of buildings from World War II period.
Solar and bioclimatic retrofitting, introducing innovative technics, with active and passive architecture, leading to an important energy saving, a total architectural refurbishment and landscaping for a quite sad suburb and consequently a much better comfort and welfare for the inhabitants.
This concerns 415 dwellings, with the aim to reduce energy consumption of 66 % compared to actual situation.

E - ENERGY PLAN 'PARCO DEL LAGO TRASIMENO'

The EDP project has eleborated an energy plan on one block of buildings in the historic centre of Castiglione del Lago and for the Isle of Polvese. Both are part of the natural park 'Lago Trasimeno' (Region of Umbria - Italy).

Isola Polvese :
The energy situation on the Isle of Polvese has been analysed in view of a nascent scientific educational centre as a central element of the natural park 'Lago Trasimeno'. The energy centre would consist of demonstration installations for renewable energy systems, the rational use of energy, and an extensive measurement system.
.
Castiglione del Lago :
Our research demonstrates that a small city like Castiglione del Lago can profit considerably from a conscious energy policy. Savings in energy costs are the most obvious aspect but not less important would be the effects on the local economy.

F - SOLAR DRYING OF SEWAGE SLUDGE

The study is focussing on sewage sludge from waste water treatment plants (WWTP). In the E.U. member states exist more than 40.000 WWTPs of different sizes. The smaller plants (35.000) could use the solar drying process to reduce their volume of sludge. Additional sludge comes from the industry. This sludge has to be treated. Different main alternatives for the final disposal of sewage sludge are possible :

- Recycling in agriculture as a fertilizer
- Fuel for large waste incinerators
- Fuel additives fr the asphalt & cement industries.
