Objective
To train Northern Electricity staff to conduct energy efficiency audits, recommend energy saving actions and implement industrial and commercial DSM programmes.
The training programme is bringing considerable expertise to the sales team resulting in
increased benefits to customers, through energy savings and to the local region and
environment, through energy management and reduced pollution.
A training and development programme has been designed and implemented aimed at the key account management sales team. The objectives are to:
* show a high degree of competence in discussing energy saving options;
* identify the greatest savings and benefits possible on a customers premises;
* quantify savings and capital costs;
* prepare project proposals and offer help with their implementation through recommending Northern Electric packages (Contract Energy Management).
The programme has involved five major elements:
Stage 1 a briefing to all trainees by company directors and consultants top explain the aims of the training;
Stage 2 ten days formal training on technical skills covering energy auditing, measurement and control and electrical/thermal efficiency;
Stage 3 application of the techniques learned to energy audits and report presentations to customers;
Stage 4 a one week course including environmental issues, pollution control and financial appraisal;
Stage 5 audits and reports to selected customers
Both sets of audits are aimed at providing real energy savings using energy management techniques across all fuels, together with more efficient methods of managing processes and operations. Audit sites range from large commercial premises to heavy industry.
