Energy Rehabilitation Methodology for Buildings Located in Urban Areas

Objective

The aim is to define an intervention methodology that best integrates the energy component in the rehabilitation of buildings located in urban areas in South Europe. It will help local authorities, architects, engineers, designers and other actors directly involved in building rehabilitation, to integrate the energy topic in the rehabilitation process.

This project will focus in the residential sector, particularly the social housing, located in mild winter and warm summer climates. For each participating country, actions shall be carried out during 18 months as follows:
1) Creation of a 'map' for energy rehabilitation.
2) Development of a methodology for energy rehabilitation of buildings.
3) Setting up general principles for energy rehabilitation in each of the main zones or types.
4) Selection of BAT's (Best Available Technologies) for each case identified in phase 3.
5) Identification of on-going and completed rehabilitation programmes in each country and verify points of agreement and disagreement with the guidelines.
6) For a pre-identified set of buildings, production of real detailed solutions, to demonstrate, in pratice, how the methodology can be applied.
7) Production of a final maxi-brochure.
8) Dissemination of results (workshops).
