Non-Classical Main Group Chemistry; Supramolecular Chemistry and Catalysis

Final Report Summary - MAINCHEM (Non-Classical Main Group Chemistry; Supramolecular Chemistry and Catalysis)

With dwindling resources and the need to meet pressing human needs, like energy and sustainable chemical synthesis, the search is on for new ways to use old elements. The research programme involved the exploration of cheap alternatives to costly and rare precious metals in the area of catalysis and the use of unusual elements in the construction of new materials that have the potential to store gases (like hydrogen). Overall, the approaches could be described as 'unconventional' in the field of chemistry.
