VALORIZATION OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF FLAX.

Ziel

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MORPHOLOGICAL AND STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN FLAX FIBRE AND THE STRUCTURE OF LINEN.

THE TREATMENT WILL BE PERFORMED WITH DIFFERENT CONCENTRATION OF NAOH AT LOW AND HIGH (95 DEGREES C) TEMPERATURE FOR DIFFERENT TIMES (10-120MIN). THE STRUCTURAL AND MORPHOLOGICAL CHANGES WILL BE CORRELATED WITH THE PHYSICAL-MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THE FIBRES. FOR THIS STUDY X-RAY DIFFRACTION AND DICROIC INDEX MEASUREMENTS WILL BE USED FOR DETERMINING THE CRYSTALLINITY AND THE ORIENTATION DEGREE OF THE ZONES AT LOW AND HIGH LATERAL ORDER. MORPHOLOGICAL CHANGES WILL BE EVALUATED BY MICROSCOPIC TECHNIQUE IN DIFFERENT WAYS AND BY CHEMICAL-PHYSICAL TECHNIQUES, EG. THE MOISTURE REGAIN, THE WATER RETENTION VALUE, DYESTUFF ABSORPTION. CHANGES AT MOLECULATR LEVEL WILL BE DETERMINED BY VISCOSIMETRIC MEASUREMENTS.
IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THE EFFECT OF ALKALINE TREATMENTS ON FINAL PRODUCT, FLAX FABRICS FOR CLOTHING AND SHIRTING WILL BE TREATED BY MORE FINISHES IN DIFFERENT WAYS.
THE PRODUCTS WILL BE TESTED AFTER WEAVING, BLEACHING, DYEING AND FINISHING THROUGH MEASUREMENTS OF:
- BREAKING TEAR AND ABRASION RESISTANCE
- DIMENSIONAL STABILITY
- DRAPE AND STIFFNESS TEST
- WASH AND WEAR TEST - APPEARANCE AFTER HOME LAUNDERING
- WRINKLE RECOVERY TEST WITH MONSANTO TESTER
- DEGREE OF POLYMERISATION
DYEING UNIFORMITY.
THIS STUDY WILL ALLOW ONE TO OBTAIN MORE NUMEROUS INDUSTRIAL RESULTS THAT WILL MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO IDENTIFY THE MOST SIGNIFICANT PARAMETERS FOR QUALITY EVALUATION AND THE PHASES OF FINISHING TREATMENTS THAT ARE MOST REVELANT TO THE FINAL RESULT.
