PYROLYSIS OF SOLID WASTES

Obiettivo



IT IS PROPOSED THAT THE LOW TEMPERATURE (450 DEGRES-600 DEGRES C) PYROLYSIS OF THE FOLLOWING 4 SIGNIFICANT TYPES OF WASTES BE INVESTIGATED TO OBTAIN BASIC DATA FOR THE DESIGN OF PYROLYSIS PROCESS AND INDICATIONS ABOUT ITS ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL FEASIBILITY.
1. WOOD WASTES FROM THE CONSTRUCTION AND WRECKING OF BUILDINGS
2. TEXTILE WASTES, F.I. WASTES FROM THE MANUFACTURE OF CARPETS AND RUGS
3. ORGANIC CONCENTRATE FROM CAR SHREDDER DUST
4. PAINTS AND LACQUERS WASTES.
THE INFLUENCE OF VARIOUS PROCESS CONDITIONS ON PRODUCTS DISTRIBUTION AND COMPOSITION WILL BE STUDIED. THE FOLLOWING FEED-AND REACTION CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE MAJOR INFLUENCE:
A. REACTION TEMPERATURE: ALL PRETREATED WASTES ARE TO BE PYROLYSED AT ABOUT 4 REACTION TEMPERATURES THAT COVER THE RANGE FROM 450-650 DEGRES C
B. WATER CONTENT OR ORGANIC SOLVENTS CONTENT OF THE WASTE
C. PARTICLE SIZE OF THE WASTES.
THE PYROLYSIS IS TO BE CARRIED OUT IN A SPECIALLY DESIGNED SPOUT-FLUID BED REACTOR.
ANALYSES: THE FOUR PYROLYSIS PRODUCTS, I.E. CHAR, GAS, TAR AND WATER WILL BE ANALYSED IN ORDER TO OBTAIN INFORMATION ABOUT COMPOSITION, PHYSICAL PROPERTIES, HEATING VALUE AND TOXICITY FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.
PILOT PLANT IMPROVEMENT: AN IMPROVED WAY TO SEPARATE TAR DROPLETS FROM TAR MISTS IN THE EXISTING PILOT PLANT UNIT IS TO BE FOUND.
EVALUATION AND PUBLICATION: AN EVALUATION OF THE ECONOMIC AND ECOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE PYROLYSIS PROCESS IS TO BE CARRIED OUT. THE RESULTS OF THE STUDY ARE TO BE PUBLISHED IN TECHNICAL REPORTS, ARTICLES, ETC.
