CONSTITUTIVE LAWS AND FRACTURE MECHANICS OF CONCRETE IN NUCLEAR POWER PLANT STRUCTURES.

Ziel

BASED ON THE CONCEPTS OF FRACTURE MECHANICS, FRACTURE CRITERIA FOR, RESPECTIVELY, PLAIN AND REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES WILL BE PROPOSED, ANALYZED, NUMERICALLY IMPLEMENTED AND EXPERIMENTALLY VERIFIED.
IN PARTICULAR, THE PROBLEM OF TRANSFERABILITY OF SMALL SPECIMEN DATA TO FULL-SIZE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT IS FACED.

THE STABILITY OF THE FRACTURING PROCESS IN REINFORCED CONCRETE WILL BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION.
ATTENTION WILL BE FOCUSED ON LOCAL PHENOMENA RELATING TO THE CRACKED CROSS-SECTION, WHILE PHENOMENA RELATING TO THE ELEMENT TO WHICH THE SECTION BELONGS WILL BE IGNORED. IN PARTICULAR, THE CONCRETE FRACTURING MECHANISM AS WELL AS THE SLIPPAGE AND YIELDING OF STEEL WILL BE CONSIDERED. THE SMEARED DAMAGE OF CONCRETE WILL NOT BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT EXPLICITILY.
A RIGID-PLASTIC CONSTITUTIVE LAW WILL BE ASSUMED FOR STEEL, WHILE FOR CONCRETE A LINEAR ELASTIC LAW, COUPLED WITH A FRACTURING CONDITION ACCORDING TO FRACTURE MECHANICS THEORY, WILL BE UTILIZED. A MORE REALISTIC CONCRETE MODEL SHOULD IN FACT SIMULATE AN ELASTO-SOFTENING BEHAVIOUR WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF A CRUSHING COLLAPSE. HOWEVER, THE PROPOSED MODEL IS ABLE TO PREDICT, WITH SUFFICIENT ACCURACY, THE ORDER OF MAGNITUDE OF SOME INTERESTING QUANTITIES, SUCH AS THE DISSIPATED ENERGY IN A LOADING CYCLE. THE FRACTURE MECHANICS MODEL WILL BE ASSUMED AND LOADING AND UNLOADING PROCESSES WILL BE CONSIDERED. THE BENDING MOMENT RANGE IS LOWER THAN THAT OF CRACK EXTENSION. THEREFORE, THE PHENOMENON OF SHAKE-DOWN DUE TO SLIPPAGE OR PLASTIC DEFORMATION OF THE STEEL BARS WILL BE STUDIED.
