Obiettivo The Boundary Element Method (BEM) based on boundary integral equations has nowadays been shown to be competitive (higher accuracy) and even substantially advantageous with respect to other numerical analysis methods like the Finite Difference Method (FDM) and the Finite Element Method (FEM). The advantage of the BEM is obvious since in this method only the boundary is to be discretised by elements. The method delivers an approximate solution for unknown variables on the discretised boundary. Here the BEM has been compared with the FEM and FDM for real engineering applications.
