STUDY ON THE DIRECT CARBOTHERMIC REDUCTION PROCESS BY AN ARC FURNACE PILOT PLANT OF POOR ALUMINOUS MINERALS AND PROCESSING RESIDUES, ALONE OR MIXED.

Cel

THE STUDY AIMS OBTAINING RAW AL-SI ALLOYS USING POOR DOMESTIC MINERALS SUCH AS: TUFFS, LEUCITIC LAVAS, SILICIOUS BAUXITES (MURRA) AND THEIR CONCENTRATION RESIDUES, AS WELL A RESIDUES FROM INDUSTRIAL PROCESSING.

THIS RESEARCH WILL COMPLETE THE FEASIBILITY STUDY OF THE CARBOTHERMIC DIRECT REDUCTION PROCESS OF POOR ALUMINOUS MATERIALS. THE PROCESS AIM IS :

1) THE OBTAINMENT OF RAW AL/SI ALLOYS, AND

2) THEIR PURIFICATION BY AN ORIGINAL TECHNOLOGY.

THE FOLLOWING INVESTIGATION WILL BE CARRIED OUT :

- FOR THE CARBOTHERMIC REDUCTION ON THE PILOT PLANT INSTALLED AT PORTO VESME (CAGLIARI)

FOR THE PURIFICATION PROCESS, AT FIRST ON A SEMIPILOT PLANT AT THE LIGHT METALS RESEARCH INSTITUTE AT NOVARA, ALREADY SCHEDULED, AFTERWARDS ON A PILOT PLANT TO BE INSTALLES AT PORTO VESME.

THEN FINALLY AN ECONOMIC EVALUATION ON THE WHOLE PROCESS UNDER INVESTIGATION WILL BE ELABORATED.
