THE CHEMICAL DISPERSION OF METALS IN SOILS AND STREAM SEDIMENTS.

Obiettivo

TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE CHEMICAL (VS. PHYSICAL) PROCESSES OF METALS DISPERSION IN SOILS AND STREAM SEDIMENTS AS AN APPROACH TO PROSPECTING FOR CONCEALED DEPOSITS, BY ENHANCING GEOCHEMICAL SIGNALS AND ENLARGING SAMPLING GRIDS.

THIS INVESTIGATION IS CONCERNED WITH THE CHEMICAL (VS. PHYSICAL) PROCESSES OF METALS DISPERSION FROM ORE BODIES. UNDERSTANDING AND ASSESSING THE CHEMICAL COMPONENT OF GEOCHEMICAL DISPERSION COULD IMPROVE THE FFICIENCY OF GEOCHEMICAL PROSPECTING. IT COULD INDICATE DEEP SEATED MINERALISATION ON THE CONDITION THAT SURFACE WATERS HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE ORE AND THAT EXCHANGE REACTIONS HAVE TAKEN PLACE.

DEPENDING ON CHANGES OF THERMODYNAMIC EQUILIBRIA, PRODUCTS SUCH AS HYDROXYDES AND ORGANO-METALIIC COMPLEXES ARE FINE FRACTION. RESEARCH HERE WILL BE FOCUSED ON COLLOID PARTICLEABLE TO TRAP THE METALLIC TRACES TRANSPORTED IN WATERS.

IN NATURAL MATERIALS, THESE PRODUCTS ARE DISTRIBUTED BETWEEN COATINGS ON COARSE PARTICLES.

THE TECHNICAL PROCEDURES FOR ANALYZING THESE PRODUCTS AND THEIR ASSOCIATED METALS MUST BE ENTIRELY UPDATED.

THE RESEACH WILL CONSIST IN:

1) FINDING THE MOST SUITABLE PROCEDURE FOR CONCENTRATING THE ULTRA-FINE PARTICLES AT THE STAGE OF LARGE SCALE FIELD SURVEYS;

2) DETAILED STUDIES ON A SILICO-ALUMINATE ENVIRONMENT IN FRANCE;

3) STUDIES OF THE SAMPLED MATERIALS FOR ESTIMATING ON THE ONE HAND THE POSSIBILITY OF ENLARGING THE SAMPLING GRID IN REGIONAL PROSPECTION, ON THE OTHER HAND FOR EVALUATING SOME WEAKLY ANOMALOUS PROSPECTS WHERE CONVENTIONAL METHODS WERE NOT SUCCESSFUL IN FINDING THE MINERALISED "SOURCE".
