DEVELOPMENT OF A COMBINED ENGINE/REFRIGERATION COMPRESSOR UNIT.

Objective

THE ENGINE AND COMPRESSOR UNIT IS CHARACTERIZED BY A LONG LIFETIME, SMALL VOLUME, AND PARTICULAR ECONOMY OF OPERATION. THROUGH ITS DESIGN AS A TAPER SLIDE VALVE PARTICULARLY GOOD COMBUSTION GAS PREPARATION IS ACHIEVED - VERY GOOD SWIRLING AND VERY LARGE TIME CROSS SECTION. THE SEPARATE MIXING OF FRESH AIR (THROUGH THE COMPRESSOR SPACE) MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE A DOUBLE IMPELLOR ACTION. THE AMOUNT OF SURPLUS AIR CAN BE VARIED. THIS MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO KEEP THE CO AND NOX EMISSIONS LOW.
IN ADDITION, BETTER BURNING THROUGH IS ACHIEVED BY PLASMA IGNITION. DESIGNING THE CRANKCASE ACCORDING TO THE FICHT PRINCIPLE MEANS THERE IS NO POLLUTION OF THE LUBRICATING OIL BY BLOW-BY EFFECT, WHICH IN TURN, MEANS LONGER OIL CHANGE INTERVALS FOR THE ENGINE. THROUGH THE AXIAL OPERATION OF THE PISTONS IN THE SEPARATION WALL BEARINGS THERE IS NO PISTON SLANT, AND HENCE REDUCED FRICTION BETWEEN PISTON AND CYLINDER WALL. THIS INCREASES THE MECHANICAL EFFICIENCY.
FURTHERMORE, IN BOTH SYSTEMS - ENGINE AND COMPRESSOR UNIT -THROUGH THE EXACTLY LINEAR OPERATION OF THE PISTONS GAS TIGHTNESS IS INCREASED. A SPECIAL SEPARATION WALL BEARING SEALING ON THE COMPRESSOR SIDE WILL BE USED TO AVOID REFRIGERATION MEDIUM LEAKAGE.

DEVELOPMENT OF A NATURAL GAS DRIVEN, 4-STROKE COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH AN INTEGRATED PISTON-TYPE COMPRESSOR, FOR USE IN HEAT PUMPS.
BOTH SYSTEMS, INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE AND COMPRESSOR, WORK ON A COMMON CRANKSHAFT.
THE ENGINE DESIGNED AS A TAPER ROTARY SLIDE VALVE.
DIAPHRAM FANS FORMS A DOUBLE IMPELLER FOR THE INPUT AIR.
AN OXYDATION CATALYSATOR MAY BE USED FOR AFTERBURNING CH.
IT IS PLANNED TO TEST 5 DIFFERENT SEPARATION SPACES.
A PLASMA IGNITION SYSTEM WILL BE USED.
THE ENGINE SECTION IS SEPARATED FROM THE COMPRESSOR SECTION BY A COMMON CRANKCASE.
BOTH THE ENGINE AND COMPRESSOR SECTIONS ARE EACH FURTHER SEPARATED FROM THE CRANKCASE BY SEPARATING WALL BEARINGS.
CRANKCASE LUBRICATION IS BY PRESSURIZED OIL.
