Objectif To field test and evaluate the water gun as a seismic source for marine geophysical survey work. The project demonstrated the viability of water guns as an effective seismic source with several advantages over alternative methods. The industry has been rather slow to exploit these advantages, but is doing so now at an increasing rate. Horizon has required more than 35,000 km of marine data using the water gun source and this is being employed by an increasing number of seismic contractors.A number of sodera 80 cubic inch water guns were deployed on the survey vessel oil hunter and tested in comparison with conventional air gun sources in verious n. Sea areas. Static test measurements were also made. Results were assessed from computer processed results.
