DEVELOPMENT OF AN IMPROVED MODEL FOR PREDICTION OF THE PHASE BEHAVIOUR OF GAS CONDENSATE MIXTURES

Objective

The aim of the project is to make an improved model for phase equilibrium calculations on gas condensate mixtures. The need arises because an increasing part of the hydrocarbon production in the North Sea comes from gas condensate fields. The phase behaviour of a gas condensate mixture is more complicated than that of an oil mixture. In simulation studies on oil mixtures it is for many prupose acceptable to simulate the oil mixture as consisting of only two components, "an oil component" and "a gas component".
For gas condensate mixture models which take into consideration the detailed composition are needed.
A procedure for predicting the phase behaviour of gas condensate mixtures with good accuracy.
The project will initially concentrate on the socalled cubic equations of state. Based on the experience gained with these, more advanced models will be selected and tested out. Part of the project will be on characterization of C7+ -fractions. The project will be divided into the following parts: Part I: Literature search, Part II: Performance of existing model, Part III: Development of an improved model, Part IV: Documentation of the work.
