COGENERATION PLANT FOR DISTRICT HEATING WITH FLUIDIZED BED BOILERS

Obiettivo

Construction of a district heating CHP scheme based on solid fuels (coal, wood, urban waste).
The short operation time has not yet enabled a cmprehensive judgement on the economic success of the project. It has, however, been possible to draw conclusions on a few aspects of the project from the preliminary data. The amount of polluting substances outlet by the fluidized bed boilers has been lower than the limits established by the current law. With the complete plant configuration, it will be possible to save 17,685 TOE in a year and to subtitute other 13,780 TOE with solid fuels (coal).
The scheme will include: 2 fluidized bed boilers (2 x 46 T/h of steam at 505C/91 bar) burning coal wood and preselected urban waste. A back pressure steam turbine with electric generator of 18 MW. 3 heat-only boilers burning natural gas and wood. A heat distribution network 120/70C with 15 KM primary maniford (DN200-500) 22 KM distribution pipes (DN25-200) sub-stations. Total heat generation capacity is 103 MW.
Innovation : fluidized bed boilers for mixed solid fuel.
