250 KW GRID CONNECTED WIND TURBINE AT "LES CAMAZES"

Objective

To construct and demonstrate the 250 kW grid connected wind turbine using the experience gained from the RF 100 kW. The generator and the gearbox are of the compact concept. The annual electricity yield is 300 MWh.

Ratier Figeac will build a two bladed 250 KW wind turbine based on the design of the RF 100 KW. The downwind wind turbine has an asynchronous generator and will be connected to the local grid at "Les Camazes". The operational wind speeds of the machine are between 5 and 27 m/s. The gearbox and the generator are coupled together in one device and the brake is of electromechanical type. It is worthwhile to mention that at the place of the installation the windy period happens to be between October and February, thus at the same time of maximum electricity demand. Estimated annual energy production is 300 MWh.
