Objective To establish a 1 MW windfarm (4 x 250 kW) on the island of Texel (NL) to be connected to a diesel/steam power station. The innovative items are: special generator system, rotor feeded with asynchronous generator and specific switching-on procedure.WTS in operation since July 1991.The 1 MW windfarm, comprising 4 wind turbines 250 kW each, is to be connected to the 25 MW diesel power station of the island Texel in the Netherlands. The four 3-bladed HAWT of 24.5 meters rotor diameter, are supplied by NEDWIND and they are provided with an asynchronous, 3-phase generator rated at 250 kW, 380, 50 Hz. The cut-in windspeed is 5 m/sec, the cut-out is 30 m/sec whereas the control is completely succeeded by the aerodynamic stalling of the rotor blades.During this application a number of aspects will be investigated and measured, such as:- the switching-on procedure of the wind turbine in order to verify whether the switching-on currents affect the regulating-status of the diesel power station- the influence of both the fluctuating power-demand and the fluctuating available wind capacity on the regulating-status- the blind power circuit which eliminates or reduces sudden fluctuations and oscillations of the produced wind power- the whole power circuit in order todetermine the impact of the power consumption, wind power, diesel power and blind power on each otherThe annual yield is estimated at 1,900,000 kWh. For the realization of the project the proposer is cooperating with NEDWIND (BOUMA).
